Handheld Learning 2009 Call for Research Papers

The call for papers as part of the Research Strand for the Handheld Learning 2009 Conference is now active. This year the conference is working in association with RCET to ensure that successful papers presented at the conference will be published in a special edition of the Journal of the Research Center for Educational Technology (ISSN 1948-075X).

Deadlines are as follows:

  • June 12 – Abstract proposals due
  • June 19 – Notification of acceptance
  • August 3 – Papers due
  • August 31 – Reviews back to authors
  • September 18 – Final papers due
  • Oct 5th – 7th – The Conference

The abstract review process will be double blind. Additional reviewers are also invited and should contact Mark van’t Hooft (mvanthoo@kent.edu) We look forward to your participation.

RCET Research Professor Karen Swan has been selected as the 2008 ETR&D Research Reviewer. The award will be presented in November at the 2008 AECT Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Kent State AT&T Classroom Celebrates 10-year Anniversary. The Research Center for Educational Technology at Kent State University will celebrate over 10 years of technology-based projects created by teachers and students from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 in the Moulton Hall Ballroom on the Kent campus. The RCET Journal is currently seeking new members for the Editorial Board.  Editorial Board responsibilities consist of reviewing 1-2 manuscripts per year.  If interested please email Alison Bland at abland4@kent.edu with "RCETJ Editorial Board" as the subject.

The National Science Foundation has awarded Kent State University’s Research Center for Educational Technology (RCET) a three-year grant of nearly $1 million to develop a curriculum for 7th grade students that will teach data literacy across the curriculum.
